I'm new to the Netdunio and am struggling to communicate with it.  I've hacked a serial cable and have wired pins 2-5 to pins 1-4 on the Netdunio.  When I open putty and power up the mini I get the following:

But I can't seem to send anything, it just sits there.  Is that correct?  I thought I could interact with the device from putty?  I've even added a RS232 diagnostic device and can see activity on pin 2 (When the device boots) but nothing when I try and send anything from the PC.

Am I missing something?

Hi beerygaz,

Based on the serial dump, it looks like the Netduino Mini is booting properly.  Since you are using RS232 for transport...is there any chance that your serial adapter is USB-TTL instead of USB-RS232?  Or is using a non-compliant voltage swing?  Or that the PC's TX pin isn't connected securely?

Chris

Definitely not TTL, using a standard USB to RS232 adapter, added a D-Sub connector and broke out RX TX and GND. Tested continuity on all pins. The voltage swing may be an issue, can you give me a pointer as to what it should be and can I spot it with a DMM and no scope?
