I have been struggling with this IDE problem all day. The .NET tab in the Add Reference dialog is empty. I looked at the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETMicroFramework\v4.1\AssemblyFolder
and it has en entry pointing to the correct assembly folder for the framework files, however, nothing shows up in the list.
In this dialog box right below the tabs its says
Filtered to: .Net Micro Framework 4.1.2821.0.
On my Vista machine if I edit the project settings and change the target frame work 3.1, and then change it back to 4.1, the "Filtered To:" text disappears from the Add Reference dialog and when this happens all the available reference show up in the list!
If I do this on my Windows 7 machine, this does not happen, the Filter To: text is always there and the references never show up in the list.
Does anyone know a solution for this? When I did my install I installed the software in the specified order on the downloads page. I had never had VS installed before so it should have been a clean install.

Did you install the visual studio 2010 power tools?

No, just the 3 files indicated on the download page.
Should I, or does this cause a problem?

A little more information:
If I use the project menu then select Add Reference I get the functionality I original posted, nothing shows up in the .net tab.
However, if I right click my app in the Solution Explorer and select Add Reference from the pop-up menu, the .net tab is filled in as expected.
Strange

Hi Shawn
It is not only you.
I just found out that if the focus is on the project Solution Window, Add Reference from the Project window have the .NET tab populated, if focus is an another window the .NET tab is empty.
This explains why I had problem adding a reference a while ago (in anothere thread), I had to browse to add it, later I found it in the add reference dialog, I then blamed it on me being blind.
