Reflashing (Bricked?) Netduino Plus 2

Netduin plus 2 bricked reflashing

Best Answer looneystar, 02 August 2014 - 04:17 AM

Im not sure why i bricked my device but i figured out the solution.

I installed the x86 version of STDFU. Running the x64 version for my 64bit windows 7 (duh!) works and i have re-flashed my device.

Doesnt get a DHCP addresss nor does the static IP work. So, I dont know if i need to do anything more for that?

I have been running samples from the .Net microframwork folder.

I had 2 visual studio instances open and while deploying a proejct, I also decided to run MFDeploy.exe to test the network settings.

And thats when everything fell apart.

MFDeploy.exe:

When i select USB, it does populate "NetduinoPlus2_netduino" in the text box next to it. However When "ping"ing i get the response:

Pinging... Error: No response from device

The device manager still shows the Netduino USB as functional.

Visual studio refuses to deploy any project to the netduino

Unable to communicate with device - USB:Netduino

So i thought of reflashing it based on the link: http://forums.netdui...-v422-update-2/

However when I run STDFU Teseter, Clicking Go after selecting Erase is instantaneous. I dont get any feed back if it completed or not.

When running DfuSe , i choose the DFU file, and it confirms saying "File correctly loaded", but the Upgrade button stays disabled.

Any ideas as to what i can do to revive this board?

P.S: When i plug the netduino in while pressing the button, the On board LED (Blue) lights up constantly. Is that a sign that there is hope?

Hi looneystar,

Did you set the MAC Address and DHCP settings in MFDeploy, after re-flashing your Netduino?

Welcome to the Netduino community,

Chris

I set the DNS entry as per what my computer is using.

The Mac address that shows up on MFDeploy is 00-04-a3-00-00-00.

It works if i give it a static address. I think i need to check the router.

Thanks for the heads up regarding the Mac Address.

Hi looneystar,

As you surmised, that's the default MAC address for NETMF. If you change it to the MAC Address that's on the back side of your Netduino Plus 2...that should get you back to normal.

P.S. We use quite a few Netduinos on the network at the same time here, so unique MACs is a must...but technically the default will probably work fine.

Chris
