I have a requirement to build a micro controller as master with some analog/digital devices as slaves. like

4 channel digital potentiometer,

16 channel output switches,

32 channel discrete sensors and

4 channel ADC

 

 

Each master may need to communicate with 32 slaves.

Attached is the block diagram of the required prototype.

 
Also this micro controller should haveAPI Calls to do VB programming .
I initially thought of SPI devices, but i am not sure whether that is the cost effective solution available.
Pl. suggest your solutions.
