Hi,

great to hear that Microsoft will spend more work in enhancing the .NET MF.

I also like that you guys are working on further improvements for the Netduino-plattform and I could imagine that you get some sponsorship by adding Azure support (you don't need to confirm or deny ;-))

Azure itself is an interesting platform, the reason why I still run my own server is that it's cheaper when you don't just need a plain webserver. For me I need also some more database space, which makes Azure quite expensive very fast - are you maybe also in discussion with Microsoft to provide some IoT/Netduino-pricing which also fits more to the pricing segment of low-cost devices?

Thanks

Personally I think the Azure pricing is pretty great. SQL space is expensive on it, but remember that you are getting enterprise-level stuff, not just a hacked together SQL instance on unreliable hardware. With that in mind, they can only cut prices to a certain extent before they sacrifice quality (which it is pretty obvious that they won't do).

It could almost make sense for them to add a "personal" SQL option for clients who don't need 99.95% uptime SLA etc, but that would just confuse matters IMO.

I make Windows Phone stuff for beer money and rent (in order of priority). I've got a blog and am on the Twitter machine.

Hi nhale,

"Hobby/personal" pricing for Azure is a great idea. I'll add your voice to the chorus :)

BTW, did you know that you can do hybrid cloud/intranet systems with Azure? That's probably something that enterprises do more than smaller installations...but it's pretty cool.

Hey Josh,

We're wrapping up one of the two networking pre-requisites for the SDK now. Watch for the 4.3.2 developer preview for those bits--and then we'll add the Azure bits on top of that.

Fireworks launcher? (worry). ;)

Hi Chris,

I'd also need the Azure SDK for my project...do you think it might be available in August?

Thanks,

Marco

Hi Marco,

The first pre-requisites ship in August. There's one more piece missing before the full solution is there...but we're working on it. So much new code... (sweat)

I watched the video and I've searched the forum, Stackoverlfow, Google & ping'd my Azure contacts but I can't find this Netduino SDK for Azure that was supposed to come out in the summer (or that's at least what I thought). Has there been any news on it since //build?

Hi Chris,

any update on this ? If the SDK will not likely to be released this year, I'd code the communication to Azure for my project myself.

Cheers,

Marco
