com3 exeception on open port

com3 exeception exception HandlePinReservati

COM3 is definitely usable, I've happily run devices on COM3 on my N+2. I assume you're not using pins 7 or 8 for anything else before your serial port declaration?

Hi everyone

i have encountered an exception System.IO.Ports.SerialPort::HandlePinReservations on attempting to open 'COM3' (System.IO.Ports.SerialPort::Open())

i have seen a couple of references to COM3 in the forum but no reports of this problem. i'm using v4.2.2.2 firmware (SolutionReleaseInfo.solutionVersion) which includes assembly: Microsoft.SPOT.Hardware.SerialPort 4.2.0.0.

is COM3 usable? the other comments refer to uart allocation for it and the libraries support its enumeration 'Serial.COM3'.

thanks in advance for any comments

mike

What hardware are you using? An N1 doesn't have a COM3 which would explain it if you're trying to do this on an N1.

The N2 obviously does so it should work there
