COM3 is definitely usable, I've happily run devices on COM3 on my N+2. I assume you're not using pins 7 or 8 for anything else before your serial port declaration?

#1Posted 13 February 2014 - 02:08 AM Hi everyone
i have encountered an exception System.IO.Ports.SerialPort::HandlePinReservations on attempting to open 'COM3' (System.IO.Ports.SerialPort::Open())
i have seen a couple of references to COM3 in the forum but no reports of this problem. i'm using v4.2.2.2 firmware (SolutionReleaseInfo.solutionVersion) which includes assembly: Microsoft.SPOT.Hardware.SerialPort 4.2.0.0.
is COM3 usable? the other comments refer to uart allocation for it and the libraries support its enumeration 'Serial.COM3'.
thanks in advance for any comments
mike #2Posted 13 February 2014 - 03:22 AM What hardware are you using? An N1 doesn't have a COM3 which would explain it if you're trying to do this on an N1.
The N2 obviously does so it should work there #3Posted 13 February 2014 - 03:25 AM Hi Wendo
