I bought a DF Robot Cherokey kit.  The built in motor contorller is based on the 2A Motor Shield (

Not up on soldering boards yet so I ordered three.  Will give these a try.  Wasn't too sure on which components to purchase to make one with a quick trip to Radio Shack.  I usually end up frustrated there anyway.

The Cherokey comes with an integrated Motor Shield and also has a point to accept a XeeBee Chip.  It's a nice compact little package for the price.
