For a 16 IO module, would you want terminal connectors or standard 0.1" headers?
5V or 3V3 output? 5V tolerance?

Both terminal and headers would be nice, I have been thinking about an output board for driving LEDs or relays (mechanical and Solid State) that could sink 100 to 200 ma per output. Just haven't gotten enough time to start it.

How about a simple Digital I/O board with a GoBus connector on one side and 16 digital I/O's on a header on the other side? This way I could solder my own buttons and switches and sensors. (The buttons on the current Button Module are too small (and are not wear rated) for my intended use. Also, I want to use keyed toggle switches and rotary encoders.)
I imagine you could make it configurable and include Analog I/O's and PWMs, but I'd be happy with just 16 digital I/O's.
Any protocals? UART, SPI, I2C that sort of thing?

Thats quite a bit of power... Would a motor driver suit your needs better maybe?

Not powered but I was thinking about trying this out:The next thing I'd want is a powered Output board. No inputs on this thing, just a board with a separate power supply and headers that could allow us to drive more power hungry peripherals. I'd like to buy a half dozen of each for the projects that I am imagining.
What do you think?

One of the forum members has a shield that gives you 32 DIOs Multiplexor Shield. It should work on the shield base. i have one but haven't used it yet.

Arron, maybe could reduce the current some but I was looking to be able control a motor contactor or a SSR for water heater etc.

A motor driver would likely work, I was thinking of using a mosfet for the output.

I've purchased, assembled and installed the nootropic design EzExpander shield (16 outputs, but it uses a few from the Netduino, so it nets 13 additional outputs) and it works GREAT with Netduino.

Something similar (and higher power) with a GoBus connector would make my day.

Chris,
I could be happy with either headers or terminals, but I'm leaning toward 0.1" headers since it is similar to what I've become accustomed to on the Netduino. 5V input tolerance is a lifestyle you have gotten me hooked on, but either 3.3v or 5v outputs would be equally useful.
Also, I just wanted to mention that the quality of the potentiometer module/driver is outstanding. I love the smooth signal. It makes life so much easier.
