Is it possible to flash an Netduino to the Arduino software/os?
I haven't bought any of 'em but I was just wondering because their both opensource; hardware and software.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Lewt,
short answer: no
long answer: most of the Arduinos have not enough resources like RAM, ROM (EEPROM) etc to deploy the .NET Micro Framework on the micro controller. There are also general diffrences in the hardware: Each ATMEGA (the micro controller of the Arduinos) has diffrent interfaces and capabilities.
The Netduinos core is no 8 or 16 bit AVR (ATMEGA) micro controller. It is based on an ARM micro controller with a completely diffrent architecture.
But if your are interested in the topic search for ".NET micro framework porting kit"...

thanks for your reply Guido,
what I meant; and it's totally my lack of explaining is: to buy a NetDuino and it like it's an Arduino. Because I want to have the best of both worlds. (ease of arduino + .NET of netduino)
I'm a C#/other-web-languages-that-don't-bother-that-much-according-to-the-subject programmer and I'm just curious.

Hi Lewt,
I have misunderstood you in the first place. And for me it still isn't completly clear what you are planning to do. Which hardware should get which framework and which programming language do you want to use? Arduinos or ATTiny based solution are wonderfull for some simple tasks but you have to use C(++) or BASCOM Basic. If your task is very complex the Netduino with its .NET Framework will be the best solution in most cases. The Netduino board can be programmed in C(++) as well but this is well beyond my expertise...
Please explain your plan (or idea) to me again

I want to buy a Netduino,
[flash to Arduino base/core]
Program it like a Arduino (if I'd ever want to do that)
[flash to Netduino base/core]
Program it like a Netduino again.

Hi Leon,
thanks for your explanation
You can write code in C(++) for your Netduino but the Netduino will never behave as an Arduino board because of the totally diffrent processor infrastracture. This means you can't treat him as an Arduino and deploy a Arduino program on it without major changes in the code.

Thanks again Guido,
I've made my choice and will order anytime soon.
