Ordered with Makershed 2 units to be shipped to the Netherlands, and they did come with a cable.
But not in a box, mine were in their anti static bags only..
They look very cool, even smaller than I thought they would be.
Wow.. No box.. I wonder if customs had something to do with that.
Could be.. it looks like the box has been opened (because it taped shut now with a dutch postal service tape)
Still would be a little strange that if they opened the box they would leave the boxes out...
The blue Netduino boxes are actually shipping boxes, not product boxes. Most resellers will ship the Netduino in its black conductive bag alone...they know how to protect electronics for shipping without the extra box.
That said, the blue boxes do look nice. So a few resellers buy them as an extra bonus for their customers.
I like those style of boxes. Not only do they looks nice, but they are recyclable in your project. I use those boxes to hold sensors up all the time. I throw them out only once they become all torn up.
I've been looking to get into arduino for a while, but as soon as i saw netduino with it's c# integration i just had to have it! Can't wait until mine arrives
I ordered Netduino on August 6th from Proto Advantage and it arrived today. I live in Czech Republic, so it came in an air mail package labelled "Printed Circuit Assembly" and with "Free of duty" sticker
I was a little bit concerned about Micro USB, as the Netduino is my only device with this connector, but fortunately the cable was included (gold plated, ferrite bead). The quality of the board is superb, I really like layout of the components. As a minor tweak, I will smooth off rough edges with fine grit sandpaper. Overall, I am impressed. Thanks.
I received my frist Netduino that I ordered on August 4 from Proto Advantage and it was shiped next day via Air Mail from Canada. Arrived today so it took 2 weeks to get it to Poland. Thanks god we have European resellers now :-)
Small box looks cool and I got the USB cable inside the envelope. Anyone can tell me what was the motivation to use micro USB instead of more common mini USB ?
The board itself loosk little empty when you compare it to regular Arduino - I guess if you'd trim all the empty space you could put it on a board half that size (Netduino Nano parhaps?). But overall it looks great. Nice work guys!

That's a great question.
Micro USB is the "new" standard for small electronics and mobile phones. Most mobile phone manufacturers switched over to Micro USB in 2009 or are now switching over to using it as the universal charging standard. Many of our users won't own MiniUSB cables and we didn't want them to have to pick up a MiniUSB cable only to see their other new devices (including future Netduinos) use MicroUSB instead.
Additionally, some MiniUSB standards have been discontinued and USB 3.0 is MicroUSB-only. But perhaps most importantly, MicroUSB is a longer-lasting connector than MiniUSB. We really care about quality; we even used a MicroUSB connector that is both soldered onto the board and soldered through the board for extra strength.
Since we know that some of our users have older phones which used MiniUSB or proprietary cables, we are including free MicroUSB cables with Netduinos as a limited time promotion. We wanted to do something extra for our early adopters.
I have received now from http://www.protoadvantage.com, it's great!
The only snag that I've found is with the uUSB connector and cable. The uUSB cable plugs so well that you have to pull it so strong to unplug it
The first time I thought that I were going to broke the connector...

So glad you got your Netduino! Regarding the cable, I bet you got one of the gold plated ones... We bundled really nice gold-plated MicroUSB cables with the first batch of Netduinos. They do fit very snugly.
We switched over to standard MicroUSB cables after that... If you received one of the snug ones, perhaps you can find someone who wants to swap a "regular" MicroUSB cable for your gold-plated one

Just got mine and am flashing it to 4.1.0.2 right now. Only complaint I have is that it doesn't seem to want to work under my Windows 7 VM on my mac with VMWare Fusion. Keeps coming up with an unknown device. I've tried installing/reinstalling the SDK and drivers but no luck. It does seem to work fine on my PC though. Grrr.

Parallels works great on Mac, but VMWare Fusion requires the use serial deployment at this time. We actually can't get a number of popular devices recognized under VMWare Fusion, but there's a theory that we might be able to get the Netduino supported specifically by playing with the USB re-enumeration on the device side.
We're looking into that, but in the meantime VMWare Fusion and Oracle VirtualBox are supported for serial deployment (i.e. using a USB-to-TTL cable or RS232 shield). Full details on supported OSs/VMs are on the tech specs page @ http://www.netduino....duino/specs.htm
Let us know how the rest of your Netduino experience goes. We want to make sure you get up and running successfully, get to build some projects, etc. etc. Thanks for your enthusiasm!

I've already got blinky running via my PC - just missed that limitation on the spec sheet. Oh well - Parallels or a TTL cable. Either way I'll make it work - I don't want to have to keep booting up my PC. Dang noisemaker!
Ordered mine from Proto in Canada on the 9th, received it today 20th here in England. Included nice gold plated USB cable.
The board looks great, much better to actually have one than seeing pictures. Off to power it up now!
Oh, the only thing missing in the box was the full size clone of me. While I am busy with my netduino, I could send him off to do other stuff I get nagged about, walk the dog, wash the car, cut the grass, do the grocery shopping etc..

Hehe.. I know what you mean about needing a clone - I can't seem to leave the thing alone since mine arrived this morning from www.coolcomponents.co.uk
My Netduino came today from Proto Advantage in Small Box, USB cable was included, already flashed it and tried few examples.
It looks good, works great so far, now I have to find something to put included sticker on

I ordered from Maker's Shed as well and got no box either. I'm also in the U.S. I think it might have something to do with their shipping via USPS. I did however get a mini-USB cable, which I'm really happy about.

Got mine from CoolComponents, and it came without the box in a jiffy bag, if someone had put any pressure on the package those headers would have snapped stright off
Luckily it was all good, loved the colour scheme of the board and bag/label (how awesome does the board look powered on!), and the tag sticker was a fantastically geeky little touch
